After saying “goodbye, for now” at the Lizard Lounge back in July 2011, it’s nice to see The Luxury rebooted. Last week at TT The Bear’s Place was the first time I had the chance to see the band since they came back to life with a new lineup. Goddamn delightful? Yes.

Last Fall I shot video for all three nights of the New England Americana Festival in Harvard Square. Some day I might even finish editing the video. Until then, there’s this little gem featuring Brian and Shawn from Tallahassee joining Honey Pie from Babes In Boinkland for some burlesque dancing while Sam Reid & The Riot Act perform “Breathe Deep.” You might want to click on the gear icon to watch it in 1080p HD.
When Cassavettes disbanded a couple years ago I was not amused! But all was not lost when Glenn Yoder embarked upon his solo career that then transformed into his new band Glenn Yoder & The Western States with Jeff Katz (guitar, vocals), Chris Anzalone (drums), Cilla Bonnie (bass, vocals) and the latest addition of Brooks Milgate (keyboards).
Their performance throughout the 34th Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble was superb. Here’s the video I shot of “Row”, the first song that kicked off night one of the semi-finals. This was my first experiment trying out RØDE’s new iXY iPhone mic.

Several years ago when I was running my old music blog (Exploit Boston!), I received an EP from a band in Pittsburgh called Good Night, States. I must have listened to the enclosed album Short Films on Self-Control at least ten times that day. Goddamn, what a great collection of songs. Fast forward a few years later and I lured the band to perform at the first Soozapalooza party I hosted in 2010. And then somehow lured them back again to play the third Soozapalooza in 2012. Later that Summer they returned to Boston to play at a party hosted by Digital Bear Entertainment. Here’s one of the videos I shot that night from their latest album Country/Static.
